Snow, Shovels, Salt, and Ice

I just wanted to post a picture of our cute house during the first (and hopefully not last) big snow storm this year. Poor Jake shoveled the driveways 3 times that Saturday... and I took pictures :) I'm really not much of a winter person... I detest getting into a cold car and waiting impatiently for the heater to actually dispense heat. I hate it when the snow is old, crusty, and dirty on the side of the road and in the yard. I hate looking at dead trees and I hate inversion. Like it's not depressing enough that it's ear-numbing cold outside, let's add muck to the air and hide the sun so that the our only hope and motivation of surviving winter is hidden from us.

Now all that being said... I have to admit... there is something about a great snowfall that I love and crave all year long. I LOVE a late night snowfall that brings the purest, whitest, most beautiful scene the next morning. And the peacefulness that seems to come along with it, almost like the snow muffles all other sounds and all is still and quiet.

And our house with Christmas lights... Good job Jake!
