Love and Lists:

For those of you who don't know... I am getting married on November 2nd and I couldn't possibly be more thrilled! As an engaged person I get alot of un-asked for advice. One that I hear and choose to toss aside is the well known "just take the money for the wedding, elope, and spend it on something nice." Right. Like I would turn down an opportunity of a whole day celebrating ME (and Jake if you're going to get all particular about it). It just doesn't make sense... until the list begins. The dreaded list of my friends, his friends, my parents friends, his parents friends, and then all those random people that no one seems to know, but still MUST be invited. Pretty much the list sucks. It's like going through every person you've ever known in life, evaluating your entire relationship with that person, and then determining whether or not he/she is a candidate for "the list."

It makes the idea of "taking the money and eloping" sound pretty damn good. (Just some food for thought people... food for thought.)

Do I make the list? If not, can I still have bridesmaid skirt and top? I will think of it as my "sorry you were rejected, but we still love you" consulation prize.

You are so sarcastic, it cracks me up! So Tina, can you post a pic of you and Jake, since I don't even know him!!! :) Maybe I'll recognize him from his pic or something.

Have the big party, but return your china and do something fun (or practical if you must) with that cash. Brent and I returned our china and bought a computer (back in the dark ages when a good computer cost about $1500). I've never missed the china. It's more fun to decorate a table with fun colorful dishes anyway. China screams "sunday dinner at Grandma's" to me.
