And He Lives...

My precious little Louie was hit by a car over the weekend. He is more than ok... but I'm telling you it was my worst nightmare.

We live in a residential area, but our street is one long, straight shot and around 5pm we get a little traffic, and people are defiintely driving faster than 25mph. Louie usually runs straight to the front door when we get out of the car... usually. But on this particular day the little devil darted across the street without me seeing him, so when I started calling him he decided to run right in front of a 4-Runner... and get hit by it. He was hit in the dead center of the car, so really it just knocked him over and he rolled a few times underneath the car. I witnessed the whole thing and nearly fell over dead when I saw our poor little guy under the car.

He stood up fast and sprinted right past me, and of course at this point I'm frantic and scared that he is going to fall over dead somehwere and I won't be able to find him... He was completely rattled and on an adrenaline rush, but he finally made his way over to me (as I'm crying and yelling "Louie??!! Louie?!")

After determining that he had no internal bleeding and minimal external bleeding, Jake and I settled down a little bit. I knew I loved my dog, but I didn't realize exactly how much until it was almost too late.

You can't not love this face (or bum... sorry for the butt shot, but I love this picture).

That is my worst fear. The other day we were getting a package from UPS and our fearless little puppy got out and ran. Gordon and the driver looked for her for like 10 minutes and finally the UPS guy got in his truck and was about to pull away when instead he started heading back to the front door with a very different kind of package. Charlie had bolted in there and was hiding in the back of his truck. She's crazy and FEARLESS. Horrible combo!
